15-22 March 2007- International Week for Fighting against Racism- Peace in Diversity

Campaign significance
International Week against Racism resides in Sharpeville events, South Africa (1960) when there were killed 70 demonstrators. The reaction of ONU General Assembly was to declare 21 March the International Day of Eliminating All Forms of Racial Discrimination. Annually, the event is commemorated through common actions aiming at tolerance, equal rights and the celebrating of diversity.
Other events revealed discriminatory attitudes which did not limit to ideology.
Rostock, Germany (1992): the attack of an Elderly Home by an extremist group of neo-Nazis Skinhead .
El Ejido, Spain (2000): racial pogrom against Moroccan workers.
Krasnodar, Russia (2003): racial attack initiated by a group of teenagers against Caucasian in a night club.
Not only neo-Nazis Skinhead or Fascists transform their ideas in action, but even those who are respectable adopt discriminatory attitudes.
While the right- wing politicians seek to earn supporters throughout speeches concerning minority integration, they are facing daily with racial attitudes. Tacitly accepted, the racism is obvious and as violent as the events from Rostock or El Ejido. Too often, ordinary people are indulging in ignorance and fear in this way letting many vicious plots appear.
Within this manifestation will take place movie projections, debates, drawing competitions, information campaigns.
